Things to do with kids in the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
I was recently invited to write a guest blog for a brilliant website called ‘Are we there yet kids’
As a parent I used to find it difficult to find those little gems of places to go when visiting somewhere new in the UK. You know, the sort of gems that you only really know about when you live somewhere.
Are we there yet kids helps solves that problem.
It’s a website with reviews and blogs on places to eat, sleep, play and visit all written by parents with kiddies input. It’s the perfect resource to use when exploring somewhere new with kids!
Family friendly Edinburgh
My blog is about the places that we like to go to in Edinburgh as a family.
I’ve steered clear of the usual places that Edinburgh is well known for (i.e Edinburgh Castle – still haven’t taken the kids there) and Edinburgh Zoo (we go there loads and would highly recommend the zoo membership!). But have included some our favourite places many of which aren’t in the city centre but are still easily accessible by car or bus or on foot.
With a 6 year old and a 16 month old it’s sometimes difficult to find places to go to that will amuse them both, doesn’t cost the earth and isn’t soft play (soft play centres in Edinburgh is a whole blog topic in itself!).
We often hear about new places through recommendations from friends. That’s why ‘Are we there yet kids’ is such a good resource. It’s great for when you are visiting somewhere new but also when you want to find somewhere new to go locally.
I’m pretty sure that there are plenty of places that I haven’t visited in Edinburgh. If there’s a place in Edinburgh that you love to go to or would recommend to go to with the kids then please do share!
Hope you enjoy reading about our fave places to go as a family and if you haven’t been to any of them that it inspires you to go and try them out!
If you’re going anywhere new during the Easter or Summer holidays then do check out the Are we there yet kid website. I’m sure you’ll be able to find some gems of places on there to visit on your travels.
Happy exploring x
